Granny Spiral Galaxy
This weekend, I wanted to crochet a spiral circle and embed it into a square shape, so that I can eventually turn it—along with my other recently crocheted squares—into a finished blanket.
I found the inspiration and a great basic tutorial at Villa Monti and the free pattern Candy Daze from Garnstudio.

Instructions
- setup round: ch1, work 4sc into the chain, slst to 1st sc.
- Round 1, repeat for each colour: (sc, hdc) into next stitch, 2dc into next stitch. 4 sts per colour
- Round 2, repeat for each colour: dc into center, (2 dc)x3, dc. 8 sts per colour. Light blue: ch1, dc (into 1st stitch of next colour).,ch1,dc,ch1,dc,ch1,dc.
- Round 3, repeat for each colour: [dc, 2dc] x4. 12 sts per colour. Pink& blue: 3dc in each of the next 4 ch-sp. Light blue: (ch2, sk1,dc)x4.
- Round 4, repeat for each colour: [dc, dc, 2dc] x4. 16 sts per colour. Pink& blue: 4dc in each of the next 4 ch-sp. Light blue: (ch2, sk1, dc, ch2, sk2, dc)X2, ch2,sk1,dc. (15 sts)9
- Round 5: each colour: (dc,dc,dc,2dc)x4. 20 sts. Pink/Blue: work 4sts in each of the next 5 ch-sp: 7dc,7hdc,6sc. Light blue: ch3, sk2,dc, ch3,sk2,dc, ch3,sk3,hdc, ch3,sk2,hdc, ch3,sk2,SC.
- With light blue, stitch around: tr,tr,dc,dc,dc,hdc,hdc,hdc,SC,SC,SC,SC,hdc,hdc,hdc,dc,dc,dc,tr,tr, ch2 - 4 times, close with a slip stitch
- medium blue: SC into each stitch, corners: into the ch-sp work hdc,ch2,hdc
- 22 sts per edge and 2 chains per corner.
